DESCRIPTION:Breaking News – Freedom is Ours Now\nA Free Christian Science Talk by Patricia Woodard\nThe little bird in my hand was free to fly away. We’d banded him as part of an Audubon Society effort and the time had come for his release. But even when I opened my hand to let him go\, he didn’t budge. What did he need? He just needed a little lift. When I gave him even the tiniest nudge upward\, off he flew. Free! What is it that gives this kind of lift to our lives? Good news\, for one thing. And what better news than the promise that health and freedom can be ours today. Yes\, today! \nMy lecture traces the origins of this good news to Christ Jesus’ ministry\, and then explores how the discovery of a 19th-century woman named Mary Baker Eddy—who found freedom from chronic illness and other struggles in her own life—shows the provable relevance of Jesus’ ministry in our lives today. What she discovered through this study she called Christian Science—a view of God and the universe that uplifts our thoughts\, changes our perspective to a spiritual viewpoint\, and heals. And it lifts all of us\, and can heal all of us. I’ll share the way Christian Science has brought healing to my own life\, rescuing me from a troubling situation with my teenage daughter\, and freeing me from the effects of an accident\, as well as examples of how it has helped others from different walks of life. The common thread through these experiences is the way a clearer view of the reality of our God-given wholeness also releases us from burdens in our lives and causes us to soar. DESCRIPTION:Prayer and Well-being: A Spiritual Adventure\nA Free Christian Science Talk by Nate Frederick\n \nAre prayer and healing for you? I mean\, if you have no experience with spirituality or religion\, or you’re not even sure what you think about God\, can you still pray and be healed? Yes. Because prayer and healing are natural to us\, and I say this as one who didn’t even grow up in a religious household. But what I’ve discovered as I’ve studied Christian Science is that a willingness to shift perspectives\, to see things in a new\, more spiritual way\, has an effect–for anyone. \nLike in the case of an inmate I worked with. As I shared the basics of Christian Science with him he said it all sounded great but he was just a bad person. He seemed pretty convinced that healing wasn’t for him. But as we talked about the fact that he wasn’t defined by his past\, but by God\, his source\, who is completely good\, I could tell his thought about himself was changing. \nAnd then he wanted more. So he took a copy of the Bible and Mary Baker Eddy’s book\, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures\, back to his cell and started to dive into these books. Six or seven weeks later\, I ran into him again and he told me that he’d been healed of a serious illness–just from studying the Bible and Science and Health. It’s about understanding more of what God is and learning to see our lives and the world through the lens of God’s all-good nature. It’s about stripping away surface-level appearances in order to discern what actually IS. Spiritual discovery reveals what is substantial\, lasting\, and powerful — and this leads to healing. What’s the outcome? Progress. Transformation. Wholeness. For anyone. \nJesus modeled a universal way to pray that leads to a greater awareness of the nature of God and of our relation to God.  He showed how turning from fear and preconceived notions to a clearer view of the presence of a God that is Love and Life itself can have a tangible\, healing effect in our lives. Bible accounts indicate that others who followed his example and teachings proved this too. Freedom from injustice\, hunger\, illness\, even incurable disease\, was gained through discovering more of what God is and does. \nPrayer can have a tangible\, healing effect today\, too. Problems related to our personal history and health as well as issues that trouble entire communities are rooted in misperceptions based on surface-level reasoning. Ultimately\, they never change the facts of what’s rooted in the nature of God — what’s genuine\, good\, and reliable. Prayer that leads to this true viewpoint\, one that’s based on spiritual discovery\, results in healing. \nDoes this sound like blind and dumb faith or positive thinking? It’s not—and centuries of tangible\, healing experiences help prove the Science of it. Mary Baker Eddy\, the founder of this approach to Christianity and healing: Christian Science makes clear the timeless\, universal\, and repeatable truths that underpin Jesus’ life and teachings. Eddy’s primary work\, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures\, explains Christian Science so that anyone can apply it and experience it for themselves. \nCan we better the world? Absolutely. Misperceptions appear on any scale. Just so\, the universal truths at the heart of Christian healing are true on any scale. Spiritual views can affect progress for communities just as they do for individuals. DESCRIPTION:A New View of God and Its Effect on Well-being\nA free Christian Science Web Lecture by Phillip Hockley\nWhen most people think about life-changing moments\, they may not think of a lecture on Christian Science. That wasn’t why I attended a lecture for the first time; I didn’t expect to walk out a new person. But I found something in that lecture that was indeed life-transforming. Christian Science gave me a new view of God that I’d not had before: a view of God as Love itself\, divine Love that loved me fully. I also discovered that this loving God was not the source of my troubles (which were many) but the solution to them. My life began to improve quickly after that and I became a healthy man after many years of suffering. \nThere’s no question that I was jubilant about the way my life was being transformed. But what impressed me the most was finding out that these kinds of breakthroughs aren’t one-time\, personal miracles. God’s love is available to everyone\, and there’s even a textbook on Christian Science healing that explains the power of God’s love in our lives: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. \nWhat I’ve gone on to learn\, and what I’ll share in my lecture\, is that the perspective of God and reality that Christian Science opens up is one that offers freedom from whatever in our lives seems painful\, debilitating\, or limiting. I’ll talk about a 19th-century woman\, Mary Baker Eddy\, who\, after a life-threatening injury\, discovered this new view of God for herself and went on to explain her discovery and its Bible-based principles in her book Science and Health.
