DESCRIPTION:Why Everyone is Needed\nA FREE Inspirational Talk\nby James Shepherd\n“As we learn more about who we are–as God’s thoughtful\, loved creation–our self-worth\, purpose\, physical health\, and relationships are transformed.”\nSo says James Shepherd\, practitioner of Christian Science healing and international speaker. “I love exploring the nature of God\, infinite Love\, as the only cause\, and our unbreakable connection to God as God’s offspring\,” he continues. “This connection gives us our purpose and worth by seeing everyone from a more God-like\, or spiritual\, point of view. I’ve experienced how this has an impact on my life and on the lives of others.” Finding this new sense of our connection to God helps us bring healing to difficult world problems like political divisions and social inequality. Each one of us is connected to God. No one is left out. James’s lecture discusses what our purpose is\, where our worth comes from\, and shares examples of how seeing ourselves and others as God sees us gives us a spiritual perspective that heals ourselves and our world. \nJoin us for James’ talk\, “Why Everyone is Needed?” on Thursday\, May 14  at 7:00 PM at the Richland Community Center\, 500 Amon Park Drive\, Richland\, WA. The talk is free\, open to the community\, and hosted by First Church of Christ\, Scientist\, Pasco. \nSharing examples of healing from his own life and professional practice of Christian Science\, Shepherd will explain why Christian Science is both Christian and scientific\, meaning that people can prove its effectiveness for themselves\, as fully described in the book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures\, written by the founder of the Christian Science movement\, Mary Baker Eddy. \nShepherd will also touch on the life of Mary Baker Eddy\, who came to understand\, confirm\, and teach what she felt was original Christian healing. Eddy herself said she was especially inspired by Jesus’ demand\, “He that believes on me\, the works that I do will he do also; and greater works than these will he do\, because I go unto my Father” (found in the Gospel of John 14:12 in the Bible). \nAbout James Shepherd\nGod’s love is for everyone\, and a Christian Science lecture is a perfect setting to learn about God’s love and the healing that it brings. \nJames has seen the healing effects of God’s love since he was a youngster\, romping through the woods around his home with his three brothers. They had their share of scrapes and bruises which were quickly healed through prayer. On the rare occasions they felt sick\, they relied on Christian Science for quick healings. \nIn high school his family moved to a ranch where they had cattle\, horses\, sheep\, pigs\, chickens\, and turkeys. He graduated from college with a Bachelor’s degree in agriculture\, but realized that serving as a Christian Science healer was the best way he could serve others. He left the ranch and took up the full-time work of helping others find healing through prayer. Thirty years later\, he still loves this work as much as ever. \nOver the years\, James has enjoyed being active in many roles in his local Church of Christ\, Scientist\, and has worked at summer camps for Christian Scientists and their friends. He has also shared the message of Love’s transforming power in prison settings and youth detention centers. When his four children were little\, he coached their sports programs. He finds other ways to help his community\, such as by volunteering at a neighborhood church to help cook a free breakfast for those in need. \nJames loves spending time with his family and doing any outdoor activity. During her school years\, the ideas in these books healed Ann of headaches\, sickness\, a wart\, a rash\, sports injuries\, and academic anxieties. \nAfter college\, Ann took Primary Class instruction to deepen her understanding of God and to learn to heal more systematically. This understanding guided her in a business career and brought healing solutions to difficult issues. When she and her husband began a family\, Christian Science was a daily help in navigating parenthood\, and in caring for their two children’s health and growth. Friends asked for prayerful treatment and were healed. She began advertising her healing practice in the Christian Science Journal in 2009. \nAnn resides in the San Francisco Bay area of California. In her healing practice\, she discovers more about God and our loving relationship to God\, and simultaneously others are healed\, and lives are transformed. Ann has been a Chaplain in the Marin County Jail\, and has shared Christian Science in commercial radio interviews and with teen and interfaith groups. DESCRIPTION:Moving Past Fear to Healing\nA FREE Inspirational Talk\nby Lisa Troseth\nCome listen on universal healing precepts found in the Holy Bible\, especially in Christ Jesus’ life and teachings\, showing how they are available for anyone to understand and experience through the lens of Christian Science.\nLisa Troseth\, practitioner of Christian Science healing and international speaker\, will present her talk\, “Moving Past Fear – to Healing\,” on May 31 at 2pm\, at The Christian Science Reading Room\, Issaquah\, (415 Rainier Blvd N.\, Issaquah). \n“Fear can be overcome and even healed in our lives by discovering the strong connection and relationship we have to something bigger than ourselves—God\,” says Lisa. “By learning to lean and rely on this greater\, higher good\, we can feel moved to love beyond ourselves—and this frees us from fear and so much more.” \nSharing examples of healing from her own life and professional practice of Christian Science\, Lisa will explain why Christian Science is both Christian and scientific\, meaning that people can prove its effectiveness for themselves\, as fully described in the book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures\, written by the founder of the Christian Science movement\, Mary Baker Eddy. \nLisa will also touch on the life of Mary Baker Eddy\, who came to understand\, confirm\, and teach what she felt was original Christian healing. Eddy herself said she was especially inspired by Jesus’ demand\, “He that believes on me\, the works that I do will he do also; and greater works than these will he do\, because I go unto my Father” (found in the Gospel of John 14:12 in the Bible). \nFor over 150 years\, people around the world have worked to follow Christ Jesus in this practice of Christianity and continue to do so today\, experiencing healings of physical ills and personal difficulties. \nThe talk is free\, open to the community\, and sponsored by First Church of Christ\, Scientist\, Issaquah\, WA. \nAbout Lisa Troseth\n \nWhat should I do with my life?” Lisa often wondered during her early twenties. She wasn’t sure where she was headed\, but she was praying to be of service to humanity. That’s when it occurred to her: If we’re motivated by love in whatever we’re doing\, even if our efforts seem small on the surface\, then we’ll be living in accord with a power that genuinely makes a difference—the power of God\, which the Bible says is Love itself. \nAt the time\, she had begun to really open her heart to God and was learning from the study of Christian Science that the nature of our divine Creator is infinitely loving and we’re designed to express God’s love in beautiful and unique ways. It’s like each of us\, including our daily endeavors\, are made to be an artistic tapestry of divine Love. \nThis idea still inspires her each day to see and treat everyone she meets with love\, to acknowledge their God-derived value\, beauty\, and uniqueness. Christian Science has shown Lisa how letting a truer sense of God’s all-defining love govern how we interact and genuinely care for each other actually leads the way to useful ideas and purposeful action\, and improves society as a whole. Since her twenties\, Lisa has seen how these views have led her and others in a variety of fruitful endeavors that bring genuine healing where it’s needed most. \nAlong the way\, Lisa has worked with educational non-profits\, contributed to community art events\, participated in interfaith programs\, and served as a Christian Science nurse. DESCRIPTION:The Science of God and Its Power to Heal Us\nA FREE Inspirational Talk\nby Nikki O’Hagan\nThe current matter-based scientific model many questions unanswered and has some thinkers and scientists questioning if it is still the right model.\nIt is interesting to consider if the time has now come for another major paradigm shift in science – a shift that would include God as the center and circumference of all existence. This paradigm shift in thought begins with the questions – how does science relate to God and is there a science that explains God? \nNikki O’Hagan\, practitioner of Christian Science healing and international speaker will address these questions and show how the Science of God explains Jesus’ healings\, and teachings\, makes God knowable and understandable\, and provides humanity with a safe and reliable means for caring for ourselves and each other. \nJoin us for Nikki’s talk\, “The Science of God and its Power to Heal Us” at 7:00PM on Tuesday\, June 2\, in Seattle\, WA. The talk is free\, open to the community\, and hosted by  and at Third Church of Christ\, Scientist\, Seattle: 5034 University Way NE\, Seattle. \nNikki will also share some of her own experiences of the transforming\, healing power of God gained through understanding this Science of God\, or Christian Science. She will explain how this healing happens\, and what role consciousness plays in the process. \nAbout Nikki O’Hagan\nNikki grew up in South Africa where she gained a love for being outdoors and enjoying the beauty and promise of nature. From a young age she had a strong desire to not just experience life\, but to understand it. She used to exasperate her dad by following up every explanation he gave her by asking “but\, Why?” While Nikki did grow up attending Christian Science Sunday School\, as a teen she decided that this would not be the way for her to gain the understanding of life that she was seeking\, and she headed off in another direction. \nSeveral years followed in which she desperately tried to find happiness and to understand the Why of life. She looked everywhere and tried everything (even jumping out of an airplane!) but nothing brought answers\, happiness or lasting peace. Rather than finding an understanding of life\, it all seemed to just get darker and make less and less sense. \nAnd then a transformational healing brought her back to Christian Science\, where she found comfort\, peace\, mercy\, happiness\, harmony\, health\, and home in the arms of divine Love. Nikki then discovered that she loved the infallible logic of the Science of Christianity\, and found in it all the answers to her Whys. Life and God finally began to make sense and became full of joy\, light\, and love. Her gratitude for this pivotal healing\, and the salvation it brought her by setting her on the path of Christian Science\, was–and still is–unbounded. Since that time all she has wanted to do is love and serve God\, and love and serve others. \nThrough her study and practice of Christian Science\, Nikki has experienced and witnessed so many healings over the years. Her earnest desire is for all to know the transformational healing power of divine Love. We provide the chalk at no charge. We might also be able to find free replacement markers for you if you need some.
