In the Christian Science Sunday School\, Ann learned to rely upon the healing ideas in the Bible\, as explained in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures\, by Mary Baker Eddy. During her school years\, the ideas in these books healed Ann of headaches\, sickness\, a wart\, a rash\, sports injuries\, and academic anxieties. \nAfter college\, Ann took Primary Class instruction to deepen her understanding of God and to learn to heal more systematically. This understanding guided her in a business career and brought healing solutions to difficult issues. When she and her husband began a family\, Christian Science was a daily help in navigating parenthood\, and in caring for their two children’s health and growth. Friends asked for prayerful treatment and were healed. She began advertising her healing practice in the Christian Science Journal in 2009. \nAnn resides in the San Francisco Bay area of California. In her healing practice\, she discovers more about God and our loving relationship to God\, and simultaneously others are healed\, and lives are transformed. Ann has been a Chaplain in the Marin County Jail\, and has shared Christian Science in commercial radio interviews and with teen and interfaith groups. Her mom had been on a years-long search to find out how to practice Christian healing just as Jesus did\, and when she started attending Christian Science church services\, she found what she was looking for. As a result\, Nicole was raised in Christian Science\, and developed a deep desire for an intimate relationship with God. \nNicole studied Christian Science with her mom and music with her dad\, and found that each discipline complemented the other. Christian Science healed performance anxiety\, while learning music honed the skills she needed for spiritual practice — skills such as intuition\, listening\, patience and diligence. \nThroughout her life\, Christian Science and music have always overlapped. DESCRIPTION:Moving Past Fear to Healing\nA FREE Inspirational Talk\nby Lisa Troseth\nCome listen on universal healing precepts found in the Holy Bible\, especially in Christ Jesus’ life and teachings\, showing how they are available for anyone to understand and experience through the lens of Christian Science.\nLisa Troseth\, practitioner of Christian Science healing and international speaker\, will present her talk\, “Moving Past Fear – to Healing\,” on May 31 at 2pm\, at The Christian Science Reading Room\, Issaquah\, (415 Rainier Blvd N.\, Issaquah). \n“Fear can be overcome and even healed in our lives by discovering the strong connection and relationship we have to something bigger than ourselves—God\,” says Lisa. “By learning to lean and rely on this greater\, higher good\, we can feel moved to love beyond ourselves—and this frees us from fear and so much more.” \nSharing examples of healing from her own life and professional practice of Christian Science\, Lisa will explain why Christian Science is both Christian and scientific\, meaning that people can prove its effectiveness for themselves\, as fully described in the book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures\, written by the founder of the Christian Science movement\, Mary Baker Eddy. \nLisa will also touch on the life of Mary Baker Eddy\, who came to understand\, confirm\, and teach what she felt was original Christian healing. Eddy herself said she was especially inspired by Jesus’ demand\, “He that believes on me\, the works that I do will he do also; and greater works than these will he do\, because I go unto my Father” (found in the Gospel of John 14:12 in the Bible). \nFor over 150 years\, people around the world have worked to follow Christ Jesus in this practice of Christianity and continue to do so today\, experiencing healings of physical ills and personal difficulties. \nThe talk is free\, open to the community\, and sponsored by First Church of Christ\, Scientist\, Issaquah\, WA. \nAbout Lisa Troseth\n \nWhat should I do with my life?” Lisa often wondered during her early twenties. She wasn’t sure where she was headed\, but she was praying to be of service to humanity. That’s when it occurred to her: If we’re motivated by love in whatever we’re doing\, even if our efforts seem small on the surface\, then we’ll be living in accord with a power that genuinely makes a difference—the power of God\, which the Bible says is Love itself. \nAt the time\, she had begun to really open her heart to God and was learning from the study of Christian Science that the nature of our divine Creator is infinitely loving and we’re designed to express God’s love in beautiful and unique ways. It’s like each of us\, including our daily endeavors\, are made to be an artistic tapestry of divine Love. \nThis idea still inspires her each day to see and treat everyone she meets with love\, to acknowledge their God-derived value\, beauty\, and uniqueness. Christian Science has shown Lisa how letting a truer sense of God’s all-defining love govern how we interact and genuinely care for each other actually leads the way to useful ideas and purposeful action\, and improves society as a whole. Since her twenties\, Lisa has seen how these views have led her and others in a variety of fruitful endeavors that bring genuine healing where it’s needed most. \nAlong the way\, Lisa has worked with educational non-profits\, contributed to community art events\, participated in interfaith programs\, and served as a Christian Science nurse. She looked everywhere and tried everything (even jumping out of an airplane!) but nothing brought answers\, happiness or lasting peace. Rather than finding an understanding of life\, it all seemed to just get darker and make less and less sense. \nAnd then a transformational healing brought her back to Christian Science\, where she found comfort\, peace\, mercy\, happiness\, harmony\, health\, and home in the arms of divine Love. Nikki then discovered that she loved the infallible logic of the Science of Christianity\, and found in it all the answers to her Whys. Life and God finally began to make sense and became full of joy\, light\, and love. Her gratitude for this pivotal healing\, and the salvation it brought her by setting her on the path of Christian Science\, was–and still is–unbounded. Since that time all she has wanted to do is love and serve God\, and love and serve others. \nThrough her study and practice of Christian Science\, Nikki has experienced and witnessed so many healings over the years. As I explored the ideas in the Bible and the Christian Science textbook\, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy\, I began to get a very different view of God. Never before had I encountered the idea that God is not merely sometimes good or just a little bit good\, but all good\, only good\, always. To think of God as pure goodness\, and to discover that this same all-good God was the source of what I am and what everyone is without exception\, was\, to me\, a new and life-changing way to think about existence. \nThese new ideas showed me the power of God\, divine goodness\, at work in all of our lives–providing solutions to challenges such as sickness\, dishonesty\, and career setbacks\, which often seem like they can shake our foundation and connection to what’s good. This had a practical effect in my own life\, bringing a quick healing of a long-standing food allergy. The law was not just his job\, he says\, it was his passion. To Alexandre\, being a good lawyer meant exercising the ability to think precisely and feeling a desire to help others get out of trouble. \nDuring his years as a lawyer\, his interest in Christian Science grew. At first\, he was impressed by its remarkable healings and resolutions\, but as he dug deeper\, he found a profound spirituality. He used to believe that religion and spirituality meant accepting a system of beliefs and letting go of discernment and critical thinking. But the more he studied and practiced this spirituality\, the more he found that one’s relationship with God requires critical thinking to understand spiritual concepts. These concepts can in turn be applied to one’s life to bring healing. \nGradually\, he gave up his law practice to become a full-time Christian Science practitioner. Alexandre still works to help others “get out of trouble\,” that is\, to overcome a sense of limitation and to find freedom. \nAlexandre discovered that Christian Science is not just about feeling better or fixing problems. It’s about being willing to challenge one’s world view as entirely molecule-based and soulless\, to be open to see the world as spiritually-based\, and experience how this change in perspective brings inner peace and healing. Christian Science helps us understand our relationship with God\, infinite good\, more clearly.
