DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Nate Frederick. \n“Are prayer and healing for you?” asks Nate Frederick. “I mean\, if you have no experience with spirituality or religion\, or you’re not even sure what you think about God\, can you still pray and be healed? \n“Yes. Because prayer and healing are natural to us\, and I say this as one who didn’t even grow up in a religious household. But what I’ve discovered as I’ve studied Christian Science is that a willingness to shift perspectives\, to see things in a new\, more spiritual way\, has an effect–for anyone.” \nNate Frederick — a practitioner of Christian Science and international speaker — will present his talk\, Prayer and Well-Being: A Spiritual Adventure\, on Saturday\, March 9\, at 2 p.m.\, at the Bellingham Public Library\, 210 Central Avenue in Bellingham. \nNate talks about an inmate he once worked with. “As I shared the basics of Christian Science with him he said it all sounded great but he was just a bad person. He seemed pretty convinced that healing wasn’t for him. But as we talked about the fact that he wasn’t defined by his past\, but by God\, his source\, who is completely good\, I could tell his thought about himself was changing. \n“And then he wanted more. So he took a copy of the Bible and Mary Baker Eddy’s book\, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures\, back to his cell and started to dive into these books. Six or seven weeks later\, I ran into him again and he told me that he’d been healed of a serious illness–just from studying the Bible and Science and Health. His study helped him grasp God and his life in a new way and his disease was cured. \n“In my lecture\, I’ll share more about the fundamentals of effective prayer\, as I’ve learned from studying Christian Science\, as well as how healing is truly possible for everyone.” \nAbout Nate Frederick \nExperiencing first-hand the healing power of Love is Nate’s favorite thing.  It’s what makes him tick. \nNate studied religion and perennial philosophy at Hampshire College where he was introduced to Christian Science healing. Although he was enamored with the academic exploration of spirituality\, what he truly desired most was to practice spirituality in a tangible way — he wanted to experience God and heal others. \nAfter producing a documentary on miracles and traveling the world where he hiked extensively in the Himalayas\, Nate came to Boston in 2008 to work for his church\, The First Church of Christ\, Scientist. Since then\, he has served in many capacities\, including launching and producing your Daily Lift podcast. Nate also helped pioneer the online Sunday School at The Mother Church; helped launch a branch church in Jamaica Plain\, Massachusetts; worked as a counselor and wilderness trip leader for six years at a camp for Christian Scientists; has shared the Good News at jails\, rehab centers and interfaith-events. He’s also composed\, produced and performed a variety of spiritually inspired music. \nNate’s many hobbies include adventuring in the outdoors\, writing songs and cooking. But he says\, “Without comparison\, my greatest love\, my greatest joy— my purpose — is to transform lives and heal the sick through Christianly Scientific prayer.” \nThis deeper sense of purpose led Nate to become a full-time Christian Science practitioner\, who helps others find healing. DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Alexandre Fischer. \n“We are not stuck!” says Alex Fischer. “Understanding more clearly our relationship with God\, infinite good\, ends fear and leads the way forward.” \nAlex Fischer\, practitioner of Christian Science healing and international speaker\, will present his talk\, “How spiritual perception brings healing” on Saturday\, March 2\, at 11 a.m. Alex will speak at The Swedish Club\, 1920 Dexter Ave N\, Seattle\, WA 98109. \nAlex’s talk will focus on universal healing precepts found in the Holy Bible\, especially in Christ Jesus’ life and teachings\, showing how they are available for anyone to understand and experience through the lens of Christian Science. The talk is free\, open to the community\, and sponsored by 12th Church of Christ\, Scientist\, Seattle. \nSharing examples of healing from his own life and professional practice of Christian Science\, Fischer will explain why Christian Science is both Christian and scientific\, meaning that people can prove its effectiveness for themselves\, as fully described in the book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures\, written by the founder of the Christian Science movement\, Mary Baker Eddy. \nFischer will also touch on the life of Mary Baker Eddy\, who came to understand\, confirm\, and teach what she felt was original Christian healing. Eddy herself said she was especially inspired by Jesus’ demand\, “He that believes on me\, the works that I do will he do also; and greater works than these will he do\, because I go unto my Father” (found in the Gospel of John 14:12 in the Bible). \nAbout Alex \nPracticing law in France and the United States for several years informed Alex’s practice of Christian Science. The law was not just his job\, he says\, it was his passion. To Alex\, being a good lawyer meant exercising the ability to think precisely and feeling a desire to help others get out of trouble. \nDuring his years as a lawyer\, his interest in Christian Science grew. At first\, he was impressed by its remarkable healings and resolutions\, but as he dug deeper\, he found a profound spirituality. He used to believe that religion and spirituality meant accepting a system of beliefs and letting go of discernment and critical thinking. But the more he studied and practiced this spirituality\, the more he found that one’s relationship with God requires critical thinking to understand spiritual concepts. These concepts can in turn be applied to one’s life to bring healing. \nGradually\, he gave up his law practice to become a full-time Christian Science practitioner. Alex still works to help others “get out of trouble\,” that is\, to overcome a sense of limitation and to find freedom. \nAlex discovered that Christian Science is not just about feeling better or fixing problems. It’s about being willing to challenge one’s world view as entirely molecule-based and soulless\, to be open to see the world as spiritually-based\, and experience how this change in perspective brings inner peace and healing. Christian Science helps us understand our relationship with God\, infinite good\, more clearly. Its teachings help us see Christ Jesus’ message in a non-dogmatic way\, bringing healing\, harmony and freedom to our life. \nThrough healing and lecturing\, Alex works to enable others to find this same freedom. That’s the ultimate good news!” \nPatty Woodard — a practitioner of Christian Science healing and international speaker — will present her talk\, Breaking news: Freedom is ours now\, on Monday\, Feb. 26\, at 6 p.m.\, at the Camas Public  Library\, 625 NE 4th Avenue\, Camas. Her talk is free\, open to the community\, and hosted by the Christian Science Society in Camas. \nSays Patty about her talk: “The little bird in my hand was free to fly away. We’d banded him as part of an Audubon Society effort and the time had come for his release. But even when I opened my hand to let him go\, he didn’t budge. What did he need? He just needed a little lift. When I gave him even the tiniest nudge upward\, off he flew. Free! \n“What is it that gives this kind of lift to our lives? Good news\, for one thing. And what better news than the promise that health and freedom can be ours today. Yes\, today! \n“My lecture traces the origins of this good news to Christ Jesus’ ministry\, and then explores how the discovery of a 19th-century woman named Mary Baker Eddy—who found freedom from chronic illness and other struggles in her own life—shows the provable relevance of Jesus’ ministry in our lives today. What she discovered through this study she called Christian Science—a view of God and the universe that uplifts our thoughts\, changes our perspective to a spiritual viewpoint\, and heals. \n“And it lifts all of us\, and can heal all of us. I’ll share the way Christian Science has brought healing to my own life\, rescuing me from a troubling situation with my teenage daughter\, and freeing me from the effects of an accident\, as well as examples of how it has helped others from different walks of life. The common thread through these experiences is the way a clearer view of the reality of our God-given wholeness also releases us from burdens in our lives and causes us to soar. Free!” \nAbout Patty Woodard \nPatty discovered Christian Science as an adolescent and soon thereafter experienced the complete healing of a broken arm through Christian Science treatment\, to the amazement of her mother\, a registered nurse. \nAfter working in New York City in the fashion business\, Patty realized she wanted to help children learn how to learn. So she returned to school and earned a Masters of Arts in Teaching. This desire to help others and her love of Christian Science impelled her to set time aside to pray for others. That’s the ultimate good news!” \nPatty Woodard — a practitioner of Christian Science healing and international speaker — will present her talk\, Breaking news: Freedom is ours now\, on Saturday\, Feb. 24\, at 2 p.m.\, at the Gig Harbor Library\, 4424 Point Fosdick Drive\, Gig Harbor. Her talk is free\, open to the community\, and hosted by First Church of Christ\, Scientist\, Gig Harbor. \nSays Patty about her talk: “The little bird in my hand was free to fly away. We’d banded him as part of an Audubon Society effort and the time had come for his release. But even when I opened my hand to let him go\, he didn’t budge. What did he need? He just needed a little lift. When I gave him even the tiniest nudge upward\, off he flew. Free! \n“What is it that gives this kind of lift to our lives? Good news\, for one thing. And what better news than the promise that health and freedom can be ours today. Yes\, today! \n“My lecture traces the origins of this good news to Christ Jesus’ ministry\, and then explores how the discovery of a 19th-century woman named Mary Baker Eddy—who found freedom from chronic illness and other struggles in her own life—shows the provable relevance of Jesus’ ministry in our lives today. What she discovered through this study she called Christian Science—a view of God and the universe that uplifts our thoughts\, changes our perspective to a spiritual viewpoint\, and heals. \n“And it lifts all of us\, and can heal all of us. I’ll share the way Christian Science has brought healing to my own life\, rescuing me from a troubling situation with my teenage daughter\, and freeing me from the effects of an accident\, as well as examples of how it has helped others from different walks of life. The common thread through these experiences is the way a clearer view of the reality of our God-given wholeness also releases us from burdens in our lives and causes us to soar. Free!” \nAbout Patty Woodard \nPatty discovered Christian Science as an adolescent and soon thereafter experienced the complete healing of a broken arm through Christian Science treatment\, to the amazement of her mother\, a registered nurse. \nAfter working in New York City in the fashion business\, Patty realized she wanted to help children learn how to learn. So she returned to school and earned a Masters of Arts in Teaching. This desire to help others and her love of Christian Science impelled her to set time aside to pray for others.
