SUMMARY:In-Person lecture: WHY EVERYONE IS NEEDED - Pasco/Richland
DESCRIPTION:Why Everyone is Needed\nA FREE Inspirational Talk\nby James Shepherd\n“As we learn more about who we are–as God’s thoughtful\, loved creation–our self-worth\, purpose\, physical health\, and relationships are transformed.”\nSo says James Shepherd\, practitioner of Christian Science healing and international speaker. “I love exploring the nature of God\, infinite Love\, as the only cause\, and our unbreakable connection to God as God’s offspring\,” he continues. “This connection gives us our purpose and worth by seeing everyone from a more God-like\, or spiritual\, point of view. I’ve experienced how this has an impact on my life and on the lives of others.” Finding this new sense of our connection to God helps us bring healing to difficult world problems like political divisions and social inequality. Each one of us is connected to God. No one is left out. James’s lecture discusses what our purpose is\, where our worth comes from\, and shares examples of how seeing ourselves and others as God sees us gives us a spiritual perspective that heals ourselves and our world. \nJoin us for James’ talk\, “Why Everyone is Needed?” on Thursday\, May 14  at 7:00 PM at the Richland Community Center\, 500 Amon Park Drive\, Richland\, WA. The talk is free\, open to the community\, and hosted by First Church of Christ\, Scientist\, Pasco. \nSharing examples of healing from his own life and professional practice of Christian Science\, Shepherd will explain why Christian Science is both Christian and scientific\, meaning that people can prove its effectiveness for themselves\, as fully described in the book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures\, written by the founder of the Christian Science movement\, Mary Baker Eddy. \nShepherd will also touch on the life of Mary Baker Eddy\, who came to understand\, confirm\, and teach what she felt was original Christian healing. Eddy herself said she was especially inspired by Jesus’ demand\, “He that believes on me\, the works that I do will he do also; and greater works than these will he do\, because I go unto my Father” (found in the Gospel of John 14:12 in the Bible). \nAbout James Shepherd\nGod’s love is for everyone\, and a Christian Science lecture is a perfect setting to learn about God’s love and the healing that it brings. \nJames has seen the healing effects of God’s love since he was a youngster\, romping through the woods around his home with his three brothers. They had their share of scrapes and bruises which were quickly healed through prayer. On the rare occasions they felt sick\, they relied on Christian Science for quick healings. \nIn high school his family moved to a ranch where they had cattle\, horses\, sheep\, pigs\, chickens\, and turkeys. He graduated from college with a Bachelor’s degree in agriculture\, but realized that serving as a Christian Science healer was the best way he could serve others. He left the ranch and took up the full-time work of helping others find healing through prayer. Thirty years later\, he still loves this work as much as ever. \nOver the years\, James has enjoyed being active in many roles in his local Church of Christ\, Scientist\, and has worked at summer camps for Christian Scientists and their friends. He has also shared the message of Love’s transforming power in prison settings and youth detention centers. When his four children were little\, he coached their sports programs. He finds other ways to help his community\, such as by volunteering at a neighborhood church to help cook a free breakfast for those in need. \nJames loves spending time with his family and doing any outdoor activity. But his greatest joy will always be to find\, and to help others find\, a more tangible sense of God’s love for everyone and how that improves every aspect of our lives. \n  \nThis free talk is sponsored by\nFirst Church of Christ\, Scientist\, Pasco\, WA

SUMMARY:In-Person lecture: THE QUEST TO EXPERIENCE GOD
DESCRIPTION:The Quest to Experience God\nA FREE Inspirational Talk\nby Giulia Nesi Tetreau\n“I wanted to feel unconditional love\, that God would be a reliable help no matter what I was dealing with or going through. And I didn’t just want to know about God. I wanted to experience God.”\n“My yearning was actually part of what I understand to be a larger spiritual revolution\,” says Giula. “This impulsion led me to Christian Science.” \nJoin us for this free Christian Science talk with Giulia Tetreau\, an international speaker and Christian Science healer\, on Monday\, May 12\, at 7 p.m. at The Richland Community Center\, 500 Amon Park Dr Richland\, WA. The talk is free\, open to the community\, and hosted by First Church of Christ\, Scientist\, Pasco \n“Christian Science teaches that we all are God’s beloved children – always\, in all conditions – and that what’s true and enduring is the good in our nature.” Guilia continues\,  “These are and continue to be revolutionary concepts. So revolutionary that\, as they change our viewpoints about God and ourselves\, we can experience healing from disease and suffering as Jesus showed us.” \nAbout Giulia Nesi Tetreau\nSays Giulia: I’ve always loved people — their life stories\, their struggles\, their successes.  I regularly meet individuals actively cultivating their spiritual life.  And I love sharing Science and Health with them! \nI see much of my own journey in these seekers.  A few years into my career in the mental health field\, despite having achieved professional success\, I felt empty inside.  I had everything I’d been taught would make me happy but instead was dissatisfied and restless\, yearning for something deeper.  That’s when I was introduced to Christian Science through Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures\, by religious reformer\, Mary Baker Eddy.  In it\, I found a shared sacred space with the author and experienced a profound sense of coming home. \nSome years later\, I was compelled to leave my psychotherapy practice to focus completely on my Christian Science healing practice.  It was an imperative demand from within me — I had to be true to myself. “His word is in my heart like a fire…I am weary of holding it in” (Jer\, 20:9 – NIV)\, I needed to practice in the way I understood would be most helpful. \nSince then\, sharing the revolutionary message contained in the pages of Science and Health has been the cornerstone of my life.  I helped oversee the worldwide activity of bringing the book to a wider public audience.  I also managed a special project established to respond to the growing interest from health care professionals in learning more about Christian Science. I’ve lectured to the public in a variety of settings and venues\, from prisons to professional health care audiences and everything in between. I love all of it! \nWhat a special opportunity Christian Science lectures provide for opening the way for the spiritual seeker in all of us to learn\, grow\, and heal.  I welcome all inquiries! \nThis free talk is sponsored by\nFirst Church of Christ\, Scientist\, Pasco\, WA.

SUMMARY:In-Person lecture: FINDING WHERE GOD IS SEEN AND FELT — WHAT’S CHURCH GOT TO DO WITH IT?
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Emra Farkas. \nEmra Farkas\, practitioner of Christian Science healing and international speaker\, will present her talk\, “Finding where God is seen and felt – what’s church got to do with it?” on Thursday\, May 9\, at 7 p.m. at Richland Community Center\, 500 Amon Park Drive\, Richland\, WA\, \nThe talk will focus on universal healing precepts found in the Holy Bible\, especially in Christ Jesus’ life and teachings\, showing how they are available for anyone to understand and experience through the lens of Christian Science. The talk is free\, open to the community\, and hosted by First Church of Christ\, Scientist\, Pasco. \n“A new kind of thinking is needed to recognize that God’s goodness and love are actually here and tangible to all humanity everywhere\,” says Emra. “The idea of ‘church’ can shift from being a physical building\, a set time on a particular day\, or an assembly of perfect humans (does that even exist??)\, to that of being what God builds in our lives every moment through us responding to Christ Jesus’ message of God’s all-powerful love.” \nSharing examples of healing from her own life and professional practice of Christian Science\, Emra will explain why Christian Science is both Christian and scientific\, meaning that people can prove its effectiveness for themselves\, as fully described in the book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures\, written by the founder of the Christian Science movement\, Mary Baker Eddy. \nEmra will also touch on the life of Mary Baker Eddy\, who came to understand\, confirm\, and teach what she felt was original Christian healing. Eddy herself said she was especially inspired by Jesus’ demand\, “He that believes on me\, the works that I do will he do also; and greater works than these will he do\, because I go unto my Father” (found in the Gospel of John 14:12 in the Bible). \nFor over 150 years\, people around the world have worked to follow Christ Jesus in this practice of Christianity and continue to do so today\, experiencing healings of physical ills and personal difficulties. \nAbout Emra Farkas \nThe most important influences on Emra’s life were her mother\, who taught her to pray when confronted with difficulties\, and her Christian Science Sunday School. In her teens\, when a teacher asked her to speak to a social studies class about her religion\, she found the joy that comes from sharing what she understood and had experienced of Mary Baker Eddy’s discovery. She was asked back each year and was always moved by the way students who were skeptical about the subject became interested after hearing her accounts of spiritual healing–her healings of a severed thumb\, tonsilitis\, swimmer’s ear\, bullying\, and other difficulties. \nHowever\, during college and graduate school she drifted away from church. Her degrees were in Fine Arts and after school she worked for galleries and museums in New York City. Her interest in finding spiritual answers to life’s challenges was rekindled\, and she explored a variety of spiritual disciplines in search of answers. This hands-on study of comparative religion helped her understand the universality of the search for spiritual truth but left her with unanswered questions. \nShe and her husband moved to Taos\, New Mexico\, where she enjoyed a career in music performance and started a family. After some years of poor health\, a sudden spiritual insight led her back to Christian Science and an instantaneous healing of multiple chronic illnesses. This inspired a deeper study of Eddy’s writings which then led to returning to church\, taking Christian Science class instruction (a two-week intensive course of study) and shortly after\, becoming a full-time Christian Science practitioner.  She says there is nothing more satisfying than seeing divine Truth and Love transform lives and bring healing. She feels deeply blessed to practice and teach Christian Science\, contribute to the Christian Science periodicals\, serve her branch church\, and serve as a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship.

SUMMARY:In-Person Lecture: How to Make Change for the Better
DESCRIPTION:How to Make Change for the Better\nA free Christian Science Lecture by Janet Hegarty\nI may not be an architect\, but I know the value of a strong foundation. My life improved when I began building on new views of myself and my identity\, which sprang from a better concept of God than I’d had before. This better concept of God brought healing changes to my life in a way that was deep and lasting. \nBuilding this new foundation began when my mother-in-law introduced me to Christian Science. As I explored the ideas in the Bible and the Christian Science textbook\, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy\, I began to get a very different view of God. Never before had I encountered the idea that God is not merely sometimes good or just a little bit good\, but all good\, only good\, always. To think of God as pure goodness\, and to discover that this same all-good God was the source of what I am and what everyone is without exception\, was\, to me\, a new and life-changing way to think about existence. \nThese new ideas showed me the power of God\, divine goodness\, at work in all of our lives–providing solutions to challenges such as sickness\, dishonesty\, and career setbacks\, which often seem like they can shake our foundation and connection to what’s good. This had a practical effect in my own life\, bringing a quick healing of a long-standing food allergy. And\, as time has gone on\, this foundational understanding of God as pure good has transformed my life in many ways\, including the healing of a serious illness and the restoration of my career. \nI invite you to join me in discovering how you can establish your own strong foundation and experience the life-changing effects of building on this solid basis for yourself and the world. \nLocation: First Church of Christ\, Scientist\, Pasco\nMore information: https://christiansciencetricities.org\nSponsored by First Church of Christ\, Scientist\, Pasco
